Post AOI Sorting Buffer

POST AOI SORTING — Multi-Functional Buffer System

Considering the Post AOI Sorting Buffer?

PCB handling equipment moves bare and populated boards between process steps — loading magazines, conveying, buffering, turning, inverting and unloading. It is the connective tissue of an SMT line: the machines that decide whether printers, placement and reflow run continuously or wait on an operator.

Post AOI Sorting Buffer

The VBB Series represents a multi-functional buffer solution designed to integrate with automated optical inspection (AOI) systems. The system receives PASS and NG (not good) signals via SMEMA interface and automatically sorts printed circuit boards accordingly.

The system architecture employs a 12-slot vertical buffer dedicated to suspect PCBs, while routing acceptable boards through a lower pass-through conveyor. Suspect units are conveyed to an upper level for review and rework processes, with the capability to reintroduce "false failure" boards back into production without interruption.

A configurable feature allows operators to select the number of PCBs to prevent transfer into reflow from the upstream conveyor, requiring the optional Long SMEMA cable configuration.

Questions

About the Post AOI Sorting Buffer

What is the pass line height of the Post AOI Sorting Buffer?

Pass Line Height: 950mm nominal +/- 30mm. The full specification table for the Post AOI Sorting Buffer is published on this page — we do not keep specs in PDFs or images.

How much does the Post AOI Sorting Buffer cost?

Price depends on the configuration rather than the base machine — tooling, fixturing, feeders and options move it more than the model does. Tell us the part and the volume and we will send the range for a build that suits it, along with lead time from US stock.

What is the lead time on the Post AOI Sorting Buffer?

PROMATION USA holds pcb handling in US stock, so a lead time is usually a delivery date rather than an ocean shipment. Configuration and testing happen here before the machine ships, and the engineers who set it up are the ones who support it afterwards.

Can we see the Post AOI Sorting Buffer run our part before we buy?

Yes. Send us the board, the fluid or the fastener and our IPC-certified engineers will run it on the Post AOI Sorting Buffer, film the result, and return cycle times and joint quality alongside a quote. There is no cost and no obligation.

Is the Post AOI Sorting Buffer SMEMA compatible?

Yes. SMEMA handshaking is standard across the PCB handling range, so the Post AOI Sorting Buffer drops into an existing line alongside other manufacturers' printers, placement and reflow equipment without custom integration work.
